Dogs of the Himalaya

woof

Ryan correctly observed that the only thing missing is a small barrel of brandy around his neck

Breakfast time

Itchin'

This dog hid nervously behind Christina's and my legs while an endless train of donkeys passed us on a narrow stairway. A true friend

Leaving behind the howling, flea-ridden, sad strays of Kathmandu, these beautiful mountain pups appeared especially robust. The dog ownership rate among Sherpas is high, and this is reflected in the silly number of dog photos I took. The only dog we encountered above 4500m was a scraggly looking white lap dog that snapped at us, unhappy to be alive.
